Something to consider...

You have a lot of choices when it comes to buying food for your family. Chain grocery stores, big box discounters, online vendors - but do you know where your food is actually produced and processed? Probably not.

This is where Stone House Creek Ranch can offer you real peace of mind.

Our beef and bison is all locally raised right here in Perry, Kansas. Our processing plant is an hour and half down the road at Alta Vista Meat Company in scenic Alta Vista, Kansas. We don't ship our meat across the country or across the world to save a few cents.  Our ground beef and ground bison, as well as other products like snack sticks or summer sausage, comes from one animal rather than the trim from multiple animals which increases quality of the product.

Our Approach

My name is Jason Clough. I graduated in 2006 at KSU where I received a bachelors degree in Agriculture and a minor in Animal Science & Industry. My inclination during my education was towards land management including many botany and ecology classes as well as beef science, ruminant nutrition, etc.

Our goal is to take care of our land and animals from a natural resource perspective rather than a maximized yield perspective.

Our ancestors put a big wrinkle in the natural plains ecosystem when they fenced and plowed, but with the right management of ruminant animals like beef and bison we can at least mimic the original ecosystem as closely as possible.

Availability

We will be delivering beef steers to the Alta Vista Meat Company on October 22, 2024 where they will be cut into halves and hang for a few weeks before being processed to the customers specifications. Alta Vista Meat Company has an online cut card that can be filled out or they will take orders over the phone. They are true professionals and the friendliest meat locker I have ever dealt with. Once the meat is processed and ready for pickup, the buyer will drive through the scenic Kansas Flint Hills to Alta Vista, Kansas and pick up their meat.

We are asking $2.80/lb of hanging weight plus the processing fees which are paid to Alta Vista Meat Co. No hidden charges, no surprises.

For a unique day trip, you can visit the Ag Heritage Museum in Alta Vista or the many attractions in nearby Wamego or Council Grove on your way to pick up your meat.
